HOT DOG RIDE - CHRIS' FAMOUS HOT DOGS -DEPARTS QT in Calera (Exit 231 on I-65)

Event date:
Sat, 06/08/2024 - 10:00am

Hot Dogs?? Wait, What, did someone say Hot Dogs? Oh, hell yes - how about Chris’ Famous Hot Dogs in Montgomery – it’s the oldest family owned and operated restaurant in Montgomery since 1917 - Hank Williams and Elvis Presley have both eaten there – so this is an historic restaurant, which means it’s a little worn and old, but so am I - I am think you’ll enjoy it. It primarily has four-seat booths and two-seat booths, and some single counter seats, so we’ll have to spread out, but I think we can handle that.

On Saturday June 8, let’s meet at the QT in Calera (Exit 231 on I-65) and depart at 10 am after a short riders meeting. [address to QT - 2220 Co Rd 84, Calera, AL 35040]

We’ll head south on 31, pick up 22, on to 231, 152, then city streets to our destination. Because it’s a Saturday the traffic will be light; however, coming around Wetumpka there are a series of stop lights, so we’ll need to close up our formation and stay together. Once we’re on 152 all will be fine. This ride has a Johanna scenic rating of 8.75 out of 10 and 9 RR crossings. Remember full tank and empty bladder – we have one planned stop at Titus Gas and Grocery which is about 65 south out of a total of 95 miles – they do sell 93 octane for those of you running on lawn mower gas  [😊]  – it’s about a three hour run – maybe a little quicker on Saturday. Remember it’s always more fun when you’re there.

Note: coming home you can take whatever route you’d like, but I am taking I-65 to 31 in Clanton and heading over to Durbin Farms for Ice Cream – everyone is welcome to join me – from the restaurant in Montgomery it’s only about 60 miles back to Calera on the Interstate.
